Cropping Pattern
The farm area of the district is 393,000 hectares and the area under cultivation is about 295,000 hectares. The main crops grown in the district are rice, cotton, sugarcane, wheat and fodder etc. The following table shows some major crops by their area, production and yield for the year of 2017 - 2018:

Horticulture
The district lies in a simmered belt having sub-tropical land of vegetation, hence the same is not very conducive towards development of horticulture except certain areas in the south-west of the district near Pattoki where a large number of nurseries have come up but the same also do not find any market within the district and thus mostly cater for the needs of Lahore city.
